In English, our work revolved around a scary remake of Red Riding Hood called Chaperone Rouge. Children wrote their setting by thinking about the senses. We then worked on creating tension while writing the build-up and problem. Lastly, we worked on coming up with sensible ways to solve the problem. All in all, this is some of the best writing many have done this year, or ever! Next week, we'll write the stories out in good so we can put them up on display.
In topic, children learned the parts of an ear and how we actually hear sounds. We all need to stop taking for granted how impressive this ability is and make sure we think about ways to protect our hearing in a world where hearing damage is so easily done.
