In English, we read a few more chapters of The Butterfly Lion. Children have been using time this week to research and make notes on an African animal of their choice that was mentioned in the book. The goal of this research was to prepare themselves to make an information brochure with their partner. Children have made a good start on this, but we'll need some time next week to make any finishing touches. So far they look good, and the facts they have included sound quite interesting! Be sure to collect any further information you need at home and bring it into school with you if you want to add more to your brochure on Monday. Same goes for a picture for your front cover!
In topic, we have looked at food chains. Children know the terms: producer, consumer and predator. They also know that food chains exist in several different environments. We'll look at how to group animals next week, along with how animals have adapted specifically to their environments.
Top Spellers this week were: Eve A, Logan, Annalise, Ellie, Alanah, Rhys, Daniel, James, Jacob, Kenzi and Phoebe. Well done to you all, +2 HPs each.
Spellings for next week (ture endings):
adventure - Well, that was quite an adventure!
departure - Our departure time is in 5 minutes!
nature - Treat nature with respect and care.
puncture - I hope we don't get a puncture in our tyre.
lecture - I don't need to lecture you on how to behave, as you know that already!
+ 5 of your own.
The Good Behaviour Award this week went to Logan for helping with equipment clean-up without being asked.
The Good Work Award this week went to Sophie E for the extra research she did about her African animal without being asked. Good job both of you. +5 HPs each.
Remember to have your PE kit in from Monday. Be sure to read and record in your yellow log book at least three times each week. Study those times tables and spellings also!
Have a great weekend everyone.
