In English, we looked at suspense writing. Adam Bushnell introduced a suspense-writing competition to the school last week, so this week we planned and wrote the beginning of a suspenseful story. Children peer-reviewed the story beginnings, looking for similes/metaphors, short sentences for effect, fronted adverbials, expanded noun phrases and a cliffhanger ending using an ellipsis.
In topic, we continued to look at states of matter. Children now know how solids, liquids and gases differ in structure and why this is important to the properties of objects in general.
In PE, we continued with our gymnastics unit. This week we focused on using symmetrical balances individually and with a partner.
