Reading Scales Practise
Mental Calculations Practise
In English, we looked some different forms of poetry. Children learned and wrote their own Haikus and Limericks with varying levels of success. Homework this week is therefore more practise with this. Big Write this week was a chance for children to write about what they want to improve next year in Year 5. They made sure to write in the future tense and to use neat handwriting. As a fun end-of-the-year exercise, we looked at the first Big Write of Year 4 and compared it to the last on they wrote. What a difference! It's always nice to see that sort of change as a teacher, and the children seemed quite pleased with themselves too!
In topic, we looked at how to measure sound. We spoke about how decibels are used and what level of decibels we can take before hearing damage is done. Children know that it isn't just how loud something is that can harm their ears, but how long they listen to the sound for and their distance from the sound source. Here's the scale we looked at that really shocked some of the children!
Top Spellers this week were: Sophie, Harry, Ellie E, Jasmin, Tom, Erin and Reuben. +2HPs each!
Week 12 Spellings
This week will be similar to last week, where it will be a mixture of any spellings we've taken over the term.
The Good Work Award went to Harry this week for achieving his best score in spelling this week.
The Good Behaviour Award went to Ellie E this week for setting a good example.
The Class DOJO Winner was Ella again!
Well done to you all!
We also had a nice treat for any of the children who managed to achieve 99% or higher attendance for the year. Mae, Ellie F, Tom, Lucy, Jasmin and Thomas all got to experience the climbing wall during the morning on Friday! Well done to you all, impressive attendance and great too see!
Remember PE kits and to read and study your spellings and times tables. Next week we have the Music Concert on Wednesday afternoon, Sports Afternoon on Thursday and the Year 6 Performance on Friday. Lots going on so be sure to think about what you need to bring to school each day!
Have a great weekend everyone!
