In English, we looked at writing with description along with using apostrophes for contractions and to show possession. We also looked at using coordinating conjunctions and how to write a diary entry based on the book we started: The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo.
Children have really enjoyed our topic of magnetism. This week we went through what a magnet is, what they are made from, how they attract and repel and how they can make objects move. Children even made their very own magnetic maze!
Spellings for the Spring Term were handed out at the start of the week. Our first spelling test of this term will be on Tuesday 12th January. Children have been informed of their spelling average for last term. Those with an average of under 6/10 have been asked to write out each word ten times and bring it in on Mondays to ensure they are reviewing the spellings enough. Anyone else can feel free to do this too if they think it will help them improve their average. Lined paper can be provided, just ask! Overall I was fairly pleased with the children's averages. I hope that these averages continue to improve throughout the year!
