In English, children wrote an ending to a short story (The Hungry Fox Who Got Caught in the Tree Trunk), along with some reading comprehension practise. Writing in complete sentences was the main focus here as some children were being lazy with their answers still! Children also experimented using longer and shorter sentences for description and effect. Some of the examples that were shared were excellent. Have a go at writing some in the comments!
On Thursday it was World Book Day! Children had the opportunity to dress up as a character from their favourite book. We wrote book reviews and set aside time to read quietly. Overall it was a nice day and hopefully children realise how enjoyable reading can be.
We continued our focus on dance in PE by completing some activities where children needed to mirror their partner. This proved tougher than most thought! We also had the opportunity to learn how to play curling. We did this indoors obviously, unlike the real game which is done on ice! Check out this video to see curling in action! Apologies...the video is a bit biased. :-)
Top Spellers this week were: Harry, Layla, Ethan E, Ellie F, Dominic, Grace, Erin, Sophie, Ellie E, Jaclyn, Lucy, Millie, Reuben, Alfie, Tom, Ethan F and Mae! Good job everyone. +2 HPs each! The spellings themselves were pretty easy this week, but knowing when to use each type of spelling took some thinking.

Our Good Behaviour Award went to Joshua this week using initiative and making sure he made up the maths lesson he missed.
The Good Work Award went to Cuba this week for continuing to improve his handwriting.
The Class DOJO winner this week was Millie with 11 DOJOs! Well done Millie! +5 HPs.
Make sure you continue to practise your times tables, spellings and handwriting. Also be sure to read at least once over the weekend and at least twice throughout the week.
Homework this week is a detailed description of an object that I will try to guess. Use lots of description to describe what it looks like, sounds like, moves like, etc, but be sure you don't actually say what it is! I'll try to guess. If I guess correctly, you'll get +2HPs. It's as easy at that!
Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there!
Have a great weekend everyone!
