Children wanting more mental methods practice can use the website we used in class to practise the Speed Challenge again.
Speed Challenge
In English, we looked at instructions again. Children wrote out instructions to an activity of their choice, then performed a peer review. We also looked at the real world impact of instructions by listing different jobs and what instructions would be needed if they were to have these jobs in later life. I think this was good for the children to see that no matter what job they choose to have when they are older, instructions are a common factor between all of them.
In topic, we continued with the making of their musical instruments. Children then came together as table groups and tried to play the song they were given so the rest of the class could guess it. This was quite difficult, especially for the groups who struggled to work together. On Friday, we came together as a class to play our National Anthem, God Save the Queen. We practised this several times, then played it in front of the school choir. Again, this was quite a difficult task considering the range of instruments and sound the children made. They did very well though! We also looked at how sound travels and made string telephones. So, how does sound travel?

Week 11 Spellings
This will be a mixture of ten words we have learned over this term. The easiest way to study for this week is to look at your weekly record pages from the past and study the words that you've spelled incorrectly before.
The Good Work Award went to Joshua this week for his excellent improvement with his spellings.
The Good Behaviour Award went to Ally this week for being responsible for his learning after being off.
Our Class DOJO winner this week is shared between Ella and Matthew. Well done!
Remember that next Friday is the school's Summer Fair (8th July). Also remember that it is Year 4/5 library time after school on Thursday (7th July).
Bring in your PE kits, along with your homework. Homework this week was quite simple. You need to copy out the sentences using the correct tense from the options given. I expect to see a good effort put in, showing neat handwriting and correct punctuation and spelling.
Remember to read and record in your yellow log book. Also be sure to practise those spellings and times tables!
Have a great weekend everyone!
