It's really windy out! In other news, we've been learning about how to solve 2-step word problems and how to use the inverse to check answers. We also did a times table test. Wow! I was impressed by most. The last formal times table test we did was back at the end of September. Most children have improved their accuracy and speed massively. Still, keep practising so you can improve even further! You can always be better! In the meantime, we'll continue to play Rapid Fire a few times a week to keep you on your toes. Lots of games to practise your times tables here also.
In English we looked at writing persuasively again, along with how to properly carry out an orderly debate. Children debated the notion that zoos are good/not good. They also wrote a persuasive text to persuade people that energy drinks are bad for your health, which they are!
This focus on energy drinks tied in to our topic work this week also. We wrote up the results of the experiment we started last week: testing the effects of different liquids on eggshells (which are similar to the enamel on our teeth). We tested energy drink, milk, water and fruit juice. The results were astounding!

although - It's been quite warm, although very windy too.
thought - That's a great though, now write it down.
through - We went through our spellings in detail.
breath - Take a deep breath to calm yourself down.
breathe - It was hard to breathe when I had a cold.
eight - We have eight minutes until break.
eighth - Robert is eighth in line.
describe - Be sure to describe the setting fully.
decide - You need to decide which operation to use.
The Good Work Award went to Kyle for showing great improvement on his spellings and maths. The Good Behaviour Award went to Grace for being a great help around class. Well done to you both.
Our class DOJO winner was a 5-way draw so I'll carry it over to next week!
Homework this week is more practise using comparison signs. Remember: big points to little!
Be sure to read and record in your yellow log book the date and pages read. Make sure you bring in your PE kit on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

UPDATE: Here are the pictures from our experiment! Some of them were shocking to see!
The fruit juice ate most of the eggshell! Very sugary, but at least it's real sugar.
The eggshell remained unchanged in the milk.
The energy drink had truly gross results! Most of the eggshell was eaten away and it even made it bubble up in places!
The eggshell remained unchanged in the water also.
