This week in Maths we have looked at 2-D shapes again. Children reviewed the names of polygons and practised reflecting shapes along a line of symmetry. We also reviewed the types of angles and ordered them by size. Check out this game of Noughts and Crosses where you need to classify angles correctly to win!
In English, we have been looking at explanation texts and how they compare to instruction texts. Children planned and wrote an explanation text with support, which led them into their Big Write on Friday where they wrote their own explanation text about why the Mediterranean is a popular holiday destination.
In PE, children performed a fitness assessment. We'll complete this assessment next week, so be sure to have PE kits in each day.

build - Let's build a tree fort!
mention - Did I mention that we need to find a tree?
learn - We need to learn how to use a hammer.
complete - Once the roof is on, it will be complete.
exercise - Climbing the ladder will be good exercise.
construct - We'll construct the walls from plywood.
extend - Should we extend the rope ladder?
join - No, we'll just join two ladders together.
execute - I can execute a back flip well now after practising.
perform - We can perform tricks on the tree swing.
These will be tested on Tuesday, as usual.
The Good Work Award went to Kyle this week for doing excellent on his spellings.
The Good Behaviour Award went to Layla for acting sensibly and setting a good example.
This week our class won Class of the Week also! Woohoo! Well done Year 4!

In other news, the yellow reading log books the children have been using to record the books, pages and dates they read have changed. We have moved to log books that are easier to keep up to date with. Children need to fill out the date, book title and pages read each time they read outside of school.
