In English, we finished up with persuasive texts. Well done to most on their persuasive poster homework last week. Erin, Ellie E, Tom, Sophie and Dominic all showed great effort with their homework. +2 HPs each! We had some other excellent examples handed in too though!
This week we went through explanation texts. Children learned the features and then wrote a simple explanation text to do with a classroom object as practise. They then researched a line of latitude and wrote a more detailed explanation text towards the end of the week. What did you find interesting about the line of latitude you wrote about? (+1 DOJO)
In topic, we continued our unit on heating and cooling by looking at the water cycle. What are the definitions of evaporation, condensation and precipitation again? (+1 DOJO) [awarded]
We've started our focus on programming in computing by writing some simple commands in our books. What process did we describe? (+1DOJO) [awarded] Some found this to be a funny lesson, but I think I got the point across that you need to be specific!
Our focus on team games/invasion games continued in PE, while in French, we looked at the names of body parts. What is the nose called in French again? (+1 DOJO)
We are starting to gear up for our Christmas presentation by practising the songs we need to perform. There are five different songs, so we're going to be busy!
Top Spellers this week were: Reuben, Jaclyn, Jasmin, Ellie E, Sophie, Joshua, Tom, Ellie F, Layla and Lucy. Well done! +2 HPs each. There were quite a few children with lower than normal scores this week, which is concerning. You need to practise the words several times to be in with a chance of doing well. Put the effort in to get the results!

DOJO winner this week was a draw between Millie and Ella. Congratulation! +10 HPs each.
The Good Work Award went to Erin this week for her excellent persuasive poster, while the Good Behaviour Award went to Ellie E for always being polite. Well done to you both. Notable mention also goes to Sophie for her Remembrance Day poem from last week. Great effort!
Be sure to continue reading as much as possible. At least twice throughout the week and at least once over the weekend is not too much to ask. You won't get better if you don't practise!
Remember PE kits need to be in school from Monday. A white top and dark bottoms with proper trainers are recommended. As the weather starts to change we need to make sure we have proper clothing and footwear for indoors and outdoors, just to be prepared.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Mr. Sutherland
Note: only one DOJO per child is available for blog answers. This makes it somewhat fair for those who don't have access to a computer regularly.
