In English, we also looked back at some of the basics such as using speech marks correctly, along with other common types of punctuation.
On Monday, some of the Year 5 girls were out performing at a singing Gala. They performed for the whole Key Stage 2 on Friday during assembly and I must say, it was impressive. It's a hard thing to perform in front of your peers, but the girls did a great job.
This past Thursday saw us participate in a 'Bushcraft' course all day. Children learned skills to: rescue injured people, make a basic shelter, light a fire, collect water, clean (purify) water and make a simple meal (bread) over an open fire. These are all skills that I learned while at school in Canada and I feel they are life skills that have a definite place in today's schools. You never know when any one of the skills learned may come in handy! Check out some of the pictures from the jam-packed day...

The DOJO leader this week is a draw. Chloe M, Harley, Jamie K, Jamielee and Kinisha all finished with 5 points each. Well done to you all (+ 3 HPs each)!
Make sure you are reading regularly and bringing in your reading folder and PE kit each day. Also, please keep bringing a coat. I know the weather is starting to be better (trying anyways) but it can still rain at anytime, so be prepared.
Homework this week is an opportunity to create a persuasive brochure/poster to try and get people to take part in the Bushcraft course you were involved with this week. BE PERSUASIVE! Why should they take the course? What is fun about it? What can you learn?
I'll send the best poster(s) to the company that ran the course, so make sure you put your best effort into it!
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Sutherland
