In English, we looked words that originate from the Romans, and their specific prefixes. Anyone remember any of the prefixes we looked at and any words you looked up? We also looked at using repetition for effect and how to write useful instructions. Big Write this week was a chance for children to write instructions on how to make a paper mosaic, which they are still working away at! These will be completed early next week and put up on display.
Top Spellers this week were: Ellie E, Jasmin, Sophie, Jaclyn, Ella, Ethan E, Harry and Tom. Well done to you all! Week 10 Spellings are yet again another mix of words that we have learned throughout this term, so be sure to study often!
The Good Work Award went to Layla this week for her continued effort maths. You're really improving Layla!
The Good Behaviour Award went to Matthew for achieving all check marks on his report! Well done Matthew!
Class DOJO winner was a draw between Jaclyn and Jasmin, so +5HPs to you both! Good work!
This week was the first week children brought home their weekly updates page. On these pages they have recorded their Mental Maths score out of 15 and their Weekly Spellings score out of 10, along with any words that they spelled incorrectly. These pages are good to keep somewhere like the fridge so that children can see their progress. They will also come in handy for when we reach the end of the term and have a mixture of spellings (like this week and next). Children know exactly which words they need to spend some extra time on to study further. Let me know how you are using these weekly updates and if you are finding them useful!
Next week is the last week of Spring Term...already! Good luck to children who are at various events this weekend and next week, namely: choir and orchestra who are performing this Saturday, those involved in the 'Young Americans' programme and those participating in the Year 4 football tournament.
A kind reminder that next Friday is Good Friday so the last day of school this term will be next Thursday. Also remember that the KS2 Easter Egg Competition is next Wednesday.
Be sure to read and record in your yellow log book, bring your PE kit in, complete your homework and practise your spellings and times tables!
It was nice to get the chance to speak with parents this past Monday and Tuesday. If you didn't get a chance to make one of these nights, or if you would like to speak with me further, please feel free to contact the office and request a meeting day/time.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Mr Sutherland
