This week in English was our assessment week. Children completed three reading assessments, which we took up together at then end. Comprehension is something that always comes up as a focus, and this term is no different. We'll continue to work on this and I suggest parents try to do the same when hearing their child read at home. It's an on-going skill that needs as much practise as possible.
In topic, we opened the egg jars and finally got our results! Some of the drinks made the eggs turn pretty gross! The milk and and water didn't seem to harm the eggs at all! Children came to the conclusion that sugar can easily damage our teeth if left in contact with them for prolonged periods of time (not brushing). I'll try to post some pictures of the eggs next week! We've also started our next topic...magnets! Children seem excited to learn about this mysterious force, and I can't wait to teach them! I just hope I don't repel them with my lame jokes!
Top Spellers this week were: Layla, Gracie, Maya, Krissy, Lewis, Corey, Billy and Scarlett S. Well done! +2 HPs each!
Spellings for next week:
Spring Term Review.
Any words we've covered from January this year will be fair game!
The Good Work Award this week went to Billy for doing well on his spellings.
The Good Behaviour Award this week went to Heather for studying well.
Well done to you both! +5 HPs each!
The Class DOJO Winner will be carried over to next week as it's a draw among several at 5 points each.
Parents' Evening will be Monday and Tuesday after school next week. Children have brought home their allocated time slot. Please let me know if this time doesn't work and we'll sort out another time/day to meet up no problem.
Swimming was unfortunately cancelled again this week due to the same temperature issue as last week. Hopefully this will be sorted out soon so we can get back in the pool. In the meantime, make sure you try to get out on the weekend or after school one evening to get some more practise in!
Be sure to study your spellings and times tables. Also be sure to read and record in your reading record.
Have a great weekend everyone! Bundle up!
