This week saw us review telling time on analogue clocks, coordinates, charts, Roman Numerals and negative numbers in preparation for one of our Summer Term assessments. On average, the class did well. A major focus for some still needs to be telling time on analogue clocks. Check out this game to help you practise...STOP THE CLOCK! You can adjust the speed at the start to make sure it's challenging enough for you!
In English we have looked at what makes a poem good to perform. We found that rhyme, rhythm, repetition, humour and the possibility to do actions are all features of good performance poems. We also looked at onomatopoeia, which are words that sound like their meaning or action (example: bark, whoosh, plop). Homework this week is some further practise with this tough concept. Have a look through the examples found HERE if you are stuck! We have also started to rehearse our class performance poem, Roald Dahl's funny version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Each student has their own part in this performance so it's important they know their lines, how to say them with expression and what actions they need to include. We look forward to presenting this poem to KS2 next week!
Our Ancient Greece topic is moving along slowly but surely. We have located where the Ancient Greek civilisation was on Earth and also placed it on a timeline with other notable civilisations and events. What do the abbreviations BC and AD stand for again?
We are on to Week 5 spellings which will be tested on Tuesday, as usual. Last week was one of our best weeks, we had ten people get perfect! Congratulation go out to Sam, Harley, Erin, Tannon, Jamie K, Chloe M, Coby, Chloe W, Kinisha and Melody. Let's see who will lead the way next week.
