We've been really lucky here in year 6. We had the fantastic opportunity to meet Beverley Naidoo, the author of 'Journey to Jo'burg.' We watched a play from Shotton Hall, listened to Beverley talk about her experience and even got to ask her some questions.
Beverley talked about some of the different covers for the book, which ones she liked and why.
She liked this one because of the way Naledi is looking up and hopeful for the future.
Owen, quite brilliantly decided this cover was a metaphor for how black people felt trapped by oppression.
We designed our own front covers thinking about the content of the boook.

We then looked at how Naledi's experiences change her and how actually the book could be said to be about Naledi's emotional journey as well as the physical journey to Jo'burg.
Here are the videos we made to represent Naledi's journey.
