Today in Maths we were looking at ratios. How do you get children to learn and remember something so tricky?! The answer is simple...feed them!
So our key question today was 'Which ratio of chocolate to Crispies makes the best rice crispy cakes?'
We investigated the ratios of 1:2, 2:3 and 4:3.
First of all the children had to weigh their given amount of chocolate and calculate how many grams of rice Crispies they needed using the ratio they were investigating.
After the chocolate had been weighed, it was time for melting and mixing.
After all of the mixtures were made, we held a vote to decide which mixture looked the best. One was far too dry, one was a bit crumbly and the other had a lot of chocolate in.
Overall, the ratio of 4 parts chocolate to 3 parts rice crispies came out the best with 16 votes.
Who out of the Maths group can sum up what we learned about ratio and quantity today? Leave your comments below...there might be a raffle ticket for correct answers!
